OCD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Some people think that OCD is just something you automatically have when you want things neat and organized, but that is false. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is defined as, “Excessive thoughts (obsessions) that lead to repetitive behaviors (compulsions).”. When you have OCD, you can not always help how you think. Your mind tells you that you have to do certain things in certain ways, or else something bad will happen. If you have OCD, it is more than just always being organized. OCD makes people feel anxious, worried, aggravated, and can cause frequent panic attacks. Living with OCD is more difficult than many would think. Sometimes people will call you crazy because they really don’t understand. OCD changes lives, and not always in a good scenario. OCD can affect you in the smallest and craziest ways, if you have a bad memory that happened while you were drinking a certain drink, sometimes your OCD will cause you to want to never drink that drink again because it brings along those bad memories. For me, every night before I go to bed I need to do the same thing in the same order every time or else it will cause me to have a panic attack and feel like something bad is going to happen. Also, when I got into a car accident a few years ago, I remember the song that was playing. I never wanted to listen to that song again, because I felt like if I did, I would get into another car accident. I know it sounds strange, but it’s true. Living with OCD is difficult, but every day is a new obstacle that I am willing to overcome.
